Free and the limits: what Free runs and when the window resets

Free runs the first two pages of a read on your idea, with no card. Every plan, Free included, spends from two limits, a window of five hours and a week. The plans, their prices and the limits in their own words are on the pricing page. This page covers how the limits behave while you use Coldbluff.

Fig. 1 · What Free runs

Page one runs before you have an account. We tell your idea back and ask about what your words leave open, and you confirm the story. Before an account, one connection can start 5 ideas in a day.

Signing in opens page two, with who has the problem and who already sells it, quoted and sourced in full. On Free, that search covers 6 places and reads up to 120 posts. Page three turns on every plan, and on Free it shows what each section would answer for your idea and keeps the sections locked. What Pro unlocks goes through them.

Fig. 2 · How a part of the read is charged

Each part of a read holds its usual price from your window when it starts. When it finishes, the window keeps what that part actually cost. A search we already ran in the last 27 days reads the same results again, so repeating one costs less than the first time.

Some things draw nothing at all. A section copied into a new read from the read before it costs nothing, and so does a new spend you set on a paid place in Distribution. Taking a read out as a document costs nothing either. The one sentence that changes an idea is a small charge of its own, even when it turns out to change nothing.

Fig. 3 · Where you see the window and the week

The account menu shows both limits under Rate limits. One bar is labelled 5 hours and the other Week, and each shows how much of it you've used and when it resets. The window and the week roll, so each one frees up as the oldest charge in it ages out of it.

Whether your agent has limits of its own is answered on the pricing page. Connect covers connecting it.

Fig. 4 · When a limit fills

When a window or a week fills partway through a read, the parts that fit have already started. The section that didn't fit says which limit is full, "This five-hour window's reads are used" or "This week's reads are used", and when it resets, to the minute. That section and any after it that didn't start wait, and you can run them once the limit resets. The same section offers the next plan up if you'd rather run it now.

A full limit never deletes anything. Everything that already ran stays in the read, and you can open it, share it and come back to it while you wait.
